Review your current lunchtime systems using this comprehensive audit tool.
Full Description:
Review your current lunchtime systems using this comprehensive audit tool. Train and empower staff & students and put an end to the misery of lunchtime disruption that can spill over to teaching times.
The resource was developed following requests from schools on how to improve the lunchtime experience for both staff and pupils. They were concerned about chaotic dining rooms, problem behaviour on the playground, poorly trained and demotivated lunchtime staff and also having to deal with problems which begin during the lunch break and spill over into afternoon lesson time.
Part 1
Lunchtime audit. This has a full explanation of how to conduct the audit to establish a "where are we now" starting point for the programme. The audit is in 4 main parts requiring input from:
Lunchtime supervisory staff
Students
Senior Leadership Team
Teaching staff
The range of the audit includes information about equipment available, rules routines and systems, the environment, incidents, activities, health and safety
Part 2
Analysis of the audit information and how to construct an effective action plan
Part 3
Suggested training activities for lunchtime supervisory staff which can act as an induction pack or an ongoing professional development programme.
Job descriptions and person specs for SMSA’s.
Part 4
Suggested adult led activities, clubs etc
Part 5
Evaluation
The intention is to give schools the resources to take a close look at current practice and associated problems, how to create an action plan, a training pack for lunchtime staff and how to evaluate progress.
The pack is designed for staff responsible for recruitment, induction and training of support staff and also designed to link with school development plans and school improvement.
